James W. Schlotter, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Dr. Schlotter has specialized in general and vascular surgery since 1989. After graduating Summa Cum Laude from the University of Texas in 1976, he attended the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, graduating in the top 10% of his medical class. Dr. Schlotter did post-graduate training at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth. He then completed a general surgery residency in 1989 and was a chief resident at the University Of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. He is Board certified with the American College of Surgeons and he is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Schlotter moved to San Marcos and opened his solo surgical practice in 1992. He has a special interest in treating venous disorders, breast and thyroid surgeries, and in cosmetic surgeries. Patient’s benefit from his extensive and varied experience with many types of surgical treatments. At Coastal Plains Surgical Care, we are proud of our personal approach to patient care. Michelle Schlotter
Office Manager & Medical Assistant
Michelle joined Dr. Schlotter’s practice in February 1996. She has worked as a medical office manager in San Marcos since 1990 when she moved here with her family. She does the work of an office manager but also assists patients when they need to schedule surgeries in or out of the office. Additionally, she assists the doctor in surgical and nursing care in the back office when needed. She also is the owner of the AnyLabTestNow! in San Marcos, Texas. She loves working with patients and helping them to solve their insurance and funding issues. In her free time, she enjoys her family, visiting friends, fishing at the coast with her husband, crocheting, and traveling.
