The Silhouette Lift is a minimally-invasive procedure that lifts areas of the face to restore a youthful facial profile. What is the Silhouette Lift?
The Silhouette Lift uses patented self-anchoring thread technology to elevate areas of the skin that have fallen over time. Fine threads are inserted underneath the skin and hand-tied to create a stable support. The knots will retract into the deep layers of the skin and tissue, where they will not be seen or felt. The threads are not absorbable, so they can remain in position for many years.
The sutures used in the Silhouette Lift procedure are crafted of polypropylene, a bio-compatible material that has been used in medical sutures for many years. This procedure offers patients with mild to moderate skin laxity positive results comparable to a facelift, without anesthesia or an extended recovery period. Results of the Silhouette Lift are both natural and long-lasting, making this a good option for men and women that would lke to turn back the clock on their appearance, but are not yet ready for a surgical procedure.
About the Procedure
The Silhouette Lift is performed on an outpatient basis using local anesthesia. A special guide needle is used to pass the threads through the area in need of treatment. The threads grab onto the soft tissue and muscle in the area, opening up to form a support structure that effectively lifts the skin in the area. Once the threads are in proper position, the needle is removed and the end of the thread is knotted by hand for a secure and long-lasting suture.
Most Silhouette Lifts take between 30 and 60 minutes to complete. After the procedure, you may be slightly sore and swollen for a day or two. Oral pain medication and ice packs are typically all that is required to keep you comfortable. Most patients return to regular activities within a couple of days after the procedure, with a refreshed, rejuvenated appearance.
Positive Results
The Silhouette Lift restores your youthful facial profile by lifting the brow and cheeks to their original position. The procedure can also be used to reverse some of the signs of aging on the neck. Full results are achieved with a single treatment session and those results may last 2-4 years before the effects of time and gravity begin to take their toll again. Some patients may choose to have the sutures re-tightened over time to further enhance the results.
